The whole of Calgary comes alive with Stampede fever in July! Whilst the major events take place at Stampede Park, the city joins in on the celebration with cowboy breakfasts of free pancakes, a Street Parade to rival any you have seen before, live country music…  And there are cowboy hats and boots wherever you look!

At Stampede Park there is plenty to see and do.  From the agricultural exhibits which, along with the livestock, includes blacksmith competitions, a tractor pull, sideshow alley, live music shows and so many food choices it will be hard to choose what to try first…  You are in for a fabulous time!

I haven’t even mentioned those cowboys yet…!! You won’t see much better rodeo riding than at Stampede! The cowboys attend by invitation only and you can sit in the stands and ride along with them as they try to win the bareback, bull riding, saddle bronc, steer wrestling and tie-roping events.  If that isn’t enough excitement then you can’t miss the Chuckwagon races – the way these boys race will have the whole crowd up and cheering them on.

At the end of a day at Stampede, after all the show exhibits and rodeo events are over, you might think it is time to head back to your hotel…  But, as the saying goes – wait, there’s more!!! Each evening the Grandstand Show delights its audience with an all-singing, all-dancing cast of amazing performers and the climax involves an incredible fireworks display.

Calgary Stampede is a fantastic event and one you really don’t want to miss!!
